Hotel pick up at 8:00 a.m. approximately to go straight to Chacaltaya,. This is a mountain with an elevation of 5,321 meters above the sea level. Over 80 percent of Chacaltaya's glacier melted between 1987 and 2007. The glacier was one of the highest glaciers in South America.
Just before arriving to the 5100 meter Refuge , stop in the middle of nowhere to watch some colored lagoons. When getting to the refuge , have the chance to walk up to the top of the mountain. Get a spectacular view either from the refuge or the top by walking a couple of meters. Also, see Huayna Potosi and Illimani Mountain; Lake Titicaca and some parts of El Alto city.
Walking up and watching all landscapes last for about one hour, after that at 12:00, go down to the refuge, and get on the bus again and leave for Moon Valley.
Arriving at 1:30 p.m. to Moon Valley. This protected area has an appearance of rock formation which is similar to the moon surface. When you get there, have a guided tour by a local guide who will explain different interesting things about how erosion cretaed this surreal place. The tour lasts for about one hour and in the final part there is a viewpoint where you can take some amazing pictures.
